LONELY, BUT STILL BECOMING
Finding My Way
I still remember the exact moment I stepped out of the airport in Dublin. It was colder than I expected. The sky was grey, and everything looked unfamiliar. I was excited, of course. This was supposed to be a fresh start, a better life. But deep down, I was scared.Ā

The days that followed werenāt easy. I got lost a lot. I pretended to understand what people said even when I didnāt. I smiled politely, but inside, I felt like a stranger in every room. Some days, the loneliness felt heavy, like I was carrying it on my back.

But slowly, I started finding small ways to feel connected. I began cooking meals from home, simple dishes that reminded me of my motherās kitchen. Iād play music in Portuguese while I cleaned, just to hear something familiarĀ

One thing that helped was writing. I started keeping a small journal. I wrote about my day, my feelings, the things I missed. It was like talking to a friend, even if no one was reading it.Ā

I still miss home, and there are still hard days. But Iāve learned that itās okay to feel lonely sometimes. It doesnāt mean Iām failing, it just means Iām human.Ā
